Despite investing a substantial amount of time at the gym, many men are unable to achieve the chest development they desire through exercise alone. When this occurs, pectoral implants are designed to add natural-looking muscular definition to the chest.

The athletic physique you deserve

Pectoral implants can create the appearance of well-developed chest muscles. When done correctly, the procedure has the power to:

  • Create an enhanced and contoured chest
  • Sculpt a defined and athletic overall physique
  • Dramatically boost your self-esteem and body confidence

Are you a candidate?

Our pectoral implant patients are men of all ages who are unhappy with the appearance of their chest. Some have a naturally thin build, while others are body builders who have been unable to achieve the large muscles they desire at the gym. In addition, pectoral implants can be an appropriate solution for patients who have underdeveloped pectoral muscles due to trauma or a congenital defect.

The procedure: What to expect

The pectoral implant surgery is done under general anesthesia. As such, you will be completely asleep to ensure your comfort and safety. The entire procedure takes between one and two hours to complete. To begin, Dr. Fenner will create discreet incisions in each armpit. He will then form a pocket beneath the pectoral muscles to accommodate the implants.

From there, Dr. Fenner will place the implants, check them for symmetry and appearance, and close the incisions. Depending on your needs, he will also perform precise liposuction to contour the area and ensure that your aesthetic vision is realized. A compression garment will be applied at the end of the surgery to support your new chest contours.

The recovery

Pectoral implants are placed as an outpatient procedure. As such, you will be free to return home shortly after surgery to begin the healing process. During the first few days, you can expect mild to moderate post-operative discomfort that can be effectively managed with pain medication prescribed by Dr. Fenner.

Although you will be free to return to work and your normal daily activities within two weeks, you will need to wait two months before resuming your regular workout routine. The implants won’t affect the function of your muscles, so you will be able to exercise normally once the recovery period is complete.

FAQ

What are pectoral implants made of?

Pectoral implants are composed of silicone. They are similar to breast implants, but firmer to the touch. They are a soft solid material, so there is no risk of leakage.

The risks

As with all surgeries, there are some risks associated with pectoral implants. Although they are rare when the procedure is performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, potential complications include an adverse reaction to anesthesia, an infection, implant shifting and asymmetry.
