Dermaplaning is a gentle and highly effective way to exfoliate your skin. It is a non-invasive skincare procedure that scrapes away dead skin cells and fine hair with a scalpel, enhancing your texture, tone and overall complexion.

An overview of dermaplaning

The dermaplaning procedure involves using a 10-gauge, surgical-grade scalpel to shave away fine hairs and the surface layer of your skin. It reveals a brighter and more youthful complexion, along with hair-free skin that glows.

The benefits

  • Reveal a brighter and more radiant complexion
  • Enhance your skin texture and tone
  • Remove fine facial hair and peach fuzz
  • Clear away dead skin cells and pollution buildup

The dermaplaning treatment experience:

What to expect during your appointment

Before your dermaplaning procedure begins, we will thoroughly cleanse the treatment area.

From there, we will hold the skin taut and gently swipe a small, sterile blade in an upwards motion to smooth away the surface layer of your skin, along with fine hairs and peach fuzz. The average dermaplaning session takes about 30 minutes to complete. In addition, the procedure is virtually painless and quite relaxing. Most of our patients require dermaplaning sessions scheduled every 4-6 weeks to achieve their optimal results.

Are you a candidate?

Dermaplaning is an ideal treatment for women struggling with dull skin, clogged pores, and peach fuzz. A gentle and non-invasive approach, most of our patients can be considered candidates for dermaplaning.

The procedure can be used to treat a variety of skin imperfections and virtually all skin types and tones. However, dermaplaning is not an appropriate solution for patients with cystic acne. Women who are struggling with acne will need to wait for their breakouts to clear up before trying dermaplaning.

The results

There is no downtime associated with dermaplaning. As such, you will be free to return to work and your normal daily routine right away, without any activity restrictions. Immediately after your appointment, your skin in the treatment area may appear red and swollen. These effects are temporary and should subside fairly quickly. Your new skin will be more sensitive than usual, so it’s important to avoid direct sunlight and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher.
